Swapped Powers

[Video]

[The young girl sits at the music store piano, playing a lovely song as if she had been able to play the piano her entire life. Even she looks surprised when she completes the song without hitting a wrong key. ]

This is great! We have never been able to play an instrument before!

[As she looks back at the piano searching for another song a gust of wind rushes in attempting to spirit away the very sheet music she was about to play. She stands on the bench and swipes at the papers to catch them… becoming angry when she can’t capture them all. With a final furious swipe the piano groans and folds in half, being so neatly cut in half as to have lost its structural integrity. Aska stops flailing to blink at the piano and then at the sickle-like weapon her arm has become. ]

Whha…WHAT IS IT?!
What happened to our arm!!!

We don’t understand what is going on at ALL!

[OOC: Aska is power swapped with Soul today!]

Damnit. [The video feed focuses on the ceiling of his room then to his moving figure. He's making his way out of his building.]

Aska. You need to calm down first. Tell me where you are.

[Tries to calm down… which isn’t really easy given what happened. ]

We are at the music store in the City.

Just keep your cool. You didn't lose your arm. It just transformed.

[Oh, those poor NPCs. Soul reaches the ground floor and is outside, beelining for the music store.]

Try to picture your arm where the blade is.

Why did it transform into something like this!

[PANIC flail… ]

[Ok, wait… We are supposed to calm down…

Deep breath - In - Out ]

If we will our arm to return it come back?

[Aska can see Soul frequently checking his device monitor as he's making his way. Probably another five or ten minutes. He tries to cheer her up with a smirk.]

Hey, I got both my arms, don't I?

Why would your having arms…

OH WHATEVER!

Just as long as this works!

[She closes her eyes and tries to imagine her arm being where it should be again. ]

[The low hum of a motorcycle can be heard outside of the music shop a few minutes later and Soul hops off to run into the shop.]

Aska?

HEY!

It worked!!

[Wiggles her newly returned fingers happily at Soul as he rushes into the shop. ]

How did you know that would work?

[There's a relieved sigh passing through his lips.]

Always worked for me whenever I needed to transform back. It's probably some stupid curse again.

[Points over at the ruined Piano. ]

…when it isn’t broken?

Don't use it unless I have to.

[His eye follows her finger and a sudden bitter expression encompasses his features.] Yeah.

[Pouts - misunderstanding the expression change. ]

We didn’t mean to break it! We were having fun playing that thing…

Sounded good over the network before you did.

[Then he looks over his shoulder to a probably fuming NPC music store owner] You're probably gonna have to take it up with him though.

[EEP! ]

That guy looks really mad!
We will have to fix it with him later…

…. Heeeeeyyy, if these are your powers then where did our magic go?

[Eyes Soul suspiciously. ]

[With his back away from the store owner, Soul pulls out a piece of paper and meets Aska's gaze with his own. A semi-twisted grin laces his lips as he starts drawing coins onto a sheet of paper that ought to be familiar to her. Polychromatic coins surface in his hand. Soul turns toward the owner again, now walking towards him.]

Yeah, yeah. Look, the whole thing was an accident. [The boy hands him a blue and violet.] This should probably cover it, right?

[That does satisfy the store owner who counts and recounts the payment as he wanders back to deposit it in the cash register. ]

You do have our magic!!!
Then this is some kind of weird curse… WE DON’T LIKE THIS AT ALL!!

[She stomps her foot and… from the way she irritably waves her arm you had better hope she doesn’t get too angry again.

From the safety of the register the store owner quickly suggests going outside before anything else gets destroyed. ]

Like it or not seems like we're stuck like this. C'mon.

[His hands are pocketed again as he strolls back out of the shop calmly briefly stopping outside to wait for Aska to follow. She can probably see a brightly orange motorcycle outside.]

[She does follow Soul outside, after a final sad look at the destroyed piano. If he had her magic the…--

Blink.]

That is one of those motorcycle things! You already know how to use our magic?

That’s fast.

[Full of himself, he just grins.]

It's easy, isn't it? You just draw something on a piece of paper and --

And -- you get a motor -- motorcycle.

[He catches himself as he instantly feels drained. Seems he forgot about a side effect of your powers, Aska.]

[Oh yeah… ]

Presea said we should warn you about that. If you use our magic for too long you could pass out. It is even harder to use spells in the City than it is normally!

[Worries. ]

Did we tell you too late?!?

[Grabs Soul’s arm as if she could really do anything if he decided to faint on her. Way too heavy for a little girl like her! ]

[Soul holds his head in his hands and groans a bit.]

Could've told me in the first place. [He fumbles with his hands as he reaches in his pocket for the piece of paper he drew the motorcycle with, but it falls onto the ground.]

[Aska grabs for the sheet before it is able to blow too far down the street. ]

Here!

[Shoves the paper at Soul. ]

Do this… [Shows him a series of hand motions that will make the motorcycle turn back into a drawing. ]

… then after a little rest you will feel a lot better!

[When she gives him a paper, it feels like she got a whole lot stronger, but he tries to focus and sloppily copies her. The motorcycle returns and he just collapses onto his knees.]

Guess I used it too long.

[She has her moments. ]

We didn’t know you were trying to use it the whole time… Maybe you need a drink.

[BRB, running down the street to grab a galls a water before she returns and hands it to him. ]

You will just feel tired for a while. It usually goes away after a good rest.

[When she returns, he seems a little bit worse than when she'd left him earlier. Soul chugs the water in a few gulps and, after a few moments, gets up.]

I'm heading back then. Later, Aska.

Hey! You can’t just run off if you look like that!

… Besides you have our bag…

[She looks around before hopping out in front of some guy with a bicycle. She speaks to him for a bit and the guy listens before nodding. Aska can then once again return to Soul.]

That nice guy over there is going to give you a ride back home.
And don’t argue! We can still use your magic if we have to!

[He just kind of looks at her in disbelief and gives in reluctantly. What was he supposed to do in this state.]

Fine, fine.

[Slumping over, he hops on the back of the bike.]

[ What in the world...? ]

Something weird happened!!

I noticed! Maybe you should calm down before you break something else. And then we can... sort this out. Somehow.

We were having fun playing that thing! We have never been able to play things like that before! And we wanted to play another song and… We didn’t mean to break anything!!

[ALRIGHT DEEP BREATH! ]

And now the store owner is really mad at us…

Sssh, sssh, calm down. That might help. I don't... I don't really know anything about scythe-arms, but waving it around isn't the best idea.

[ orz where is Chang Ang when you need him. She's reminded that she's not great with kids. ]

You'd think the owner would understand curse problems...

[Tries to calm down, she really does. But, this was a really big surprise so it takes a while. Finally she manages to stop thrashing around. ]

You would think he would understand curses… especially because it was an accident … but all he can do is whine about his money or his piano.

But, Soul says he knows how to make our arm come back. We are going to try what he says.

Okay. So there's someone else in the City who has this power? I hope he's right.

We are beginning to think we have his magic and he has ours…

How -- odd.

I hope he doesn't try to draw anything.

Ehh… yeah… drawing…

We hope he doesn’t try the string technique… Elder will be mad enough with just the drawing, since we sort of showed Soul how to do that…

You'd better warn him too.

We should… but it might be funny to see Elder yell at some one else for a change.
