Enemies Meet

[Video - Open for Video/Text/Action]

Some how unattended once again… Lady Aska wanders the City streets playing with the small pink Network Device she was given upon her arrival in this place. She seems to be recording as if this device were a video camera. There is a tree, the camera pans to show the fountain in the middle of the square… and then a brush of white fabric as Aska bumps into some one. The pavement rushes up to meet the camera lens as the Network object is dropped to the ground. Once it skids to a stop and the image clears you can see Lady Aska regaining her footing and looking up at a much taller gentleman.

Are you all right, Lady Aska?

HEY! You know who we are?! So many people here don’t seem to know about Fahren.

There is an amused chuckle at that.
Not many people here seem to know about Autozam either.

You are from that place? I guess you were brought here against your will too…

I don’t think anyone really comes here voluntarily, at least I have never met anyone who has.

There is a vaguely thoughtful expression on Lady Aska’s face before she grabs her fan and pokes it at Eagle threateningly.
Maybe you know! How do we get back to Cephiro!?

But, this tiny threat only results in a smile.
And why are you in such a hurry to return to that world?

We were on our way to become the Pillar when this City-place brought us here!

There was a bit of surprise… no not quite surprise, a calculating expression settling in mostly around Eagle’s eyes because he never lost that friendly smile. This was the first time he had been able to confirm the period of time Aska had arrived from.
Have you given up on your ambitions to become the Pillar since your arrival here?

We haven’t! We will become Cephiro’s next Pillar!

Still with the smile… though the friendly tone of voice now holds an icy dangerous edge.
That is inconvenient…

[How does this charge of his always manage to give him the slip is beyond him. Maybe age is finally getting to him. The fact remains Chang Ang doesn't approve of the motion of having a diplomatic conflict so out of the blue. He's headed toward the Square as quickly as he can trot there, to retrieve his Lady and spare Eagle any further yelling.

No, he doesn't believe the Princess to be in danger. He trusts Eagle's common decency to keep him civil.]

[What Chang Ang maybe able to hear as he makes his way onto the scene. ]

[Eagle notices the Elder advisor first - he made good time apparently.

[Hearing how downhill things are going only makes him hurry up. Finally he breaks into the scene, jogging quite energetically for someone this old.]

Lady Aska--!!

[Catching... his breath...] How come you ran away when you should be minding yours studies? Commander Vision... greetings... My apologies-! ....for this unfortunate... [Wheeze.] ...incident.

We went for a walk… we don’t see anything wrong about that…

Maybe you should sit for a minute to catch your breath?

[Gesturing to a nearby bench ]

This ‘incident’ was almost surely going to occur at some point… if we are both after the same goals.

...I believe this... would be wise...

[Referring to Eagle's recommendations. He plops down to a seat on the edge of the fountain.]

Lady Aska, this is a dangerous place! And much as Commander Vision remarks it, I'd be grateful if you were to notify me when you feel like going for walks...! You need an escort!

[Then to Elder]

Be quiet! We can take care of ourselves!
We still have our magic and we will defeat anyone who tries to mess with US!

[Meanwhile Eagle is laughing slightly as Aska’s reaction. She really could be loud when she wanted to be… couldn’t she?
It was a shame a girl as small as this was an enemy… ]

I mean that we are both trying to become the Pillar.

[Somehow managing not to be blown into the fountain by the shockwave of Aska's shouting. BUT BARELY.]

This is an unfortunate coincidence, that you both happen to be from a point in time in which the matter of the Pillar is yet to be settled.

Commander Vision, I beg of you not to egg the Lady on...

It wasn’t my intention to egg her on… I just felt Lady Aska should be made aware of the situation. It wouldn’t be fair to keep her in the dark about something like this.

...There's a time and place for everything, and I honestly doubt a chance encounter on the street was the best of settings for discussing this matters.

[He'll be getting up to stand by Aska's side, looking supportive. His tone is diplomatic but still expresses his discomfort at the situation.]

As Lady Aska's tutor I believe it my responsibility to deal with what inconveniences our time differences may brew.

[Yeaa… not being overly formal himself Eagle thinks it more important to rely the information rather than worry about where the information is being shared at. ]

I suppose you would have preferred a more formal controlled setting, but this seemed as good a time as any to me. It is far better that she is warned now, before anything else occurs in this City.

...I politely remind you these time differences should be treated with care, Commander. To avoid disagreeable arguments such as this one. As there seems to be no way to avoid the subject now, maybe we could at least move the discussion to a less public spot.

[Turning to Aska, so he can try his best at calming her down.]

Lady Aska, the way 'curses' have progressed since your arrival hardly allowed for it, I assure you! Besides, even from the early point in time you're from you must have been aware Autozam also pursued the Pillar.

Perhaps I could have found a way to be less blunt about it, however I see little reason to sugar coat the facts. Besides I doubt we would ever be able to avoid a disagreement over this issue. Lady Aska seems very determined to accomplish her goal.

There's the basic principle of diplomacy to consider. Something I hope this barbaric place won't be able to have us forgo, no matter how ruthless the 'curses' that ail us!

[Turning to the Princess now, he bows respectfully.]

Clef and yourself are far more experienced in diplomacy than I am and… a good deal more concerned with protocol than I think I would ever be. I do of course apologize if you felt your authority in this situation was usurped, I just didn’t want Lady Aska to be taken be surprise.

Considering the circumstances it simply can't be helped. I appreciate and accept your apologies, Commander, though they aren't necessary. This land has put us all in enough of an awkward situation as it is.

[Attempting to drop formalities yet again. He had already stopped introducing himself as ‘Commander Eagle Vision‘ some time ago.]

I would like the opportunity to talk your young Princess out of her plans. I doubt she fully understands what that would mean.

I'm an old diplomat who has certain trouble letting go of titles, as you may have noticed from our previous conversations. If I may---
