Enemies Meet

[Video - Open for Video/Text/Action]

Some how unattended once again… Lady Aska wanders the City streets playing with the small pink Network Device she was given upon her arrival in this place. She seems to be recording as if this device were a video camera. There is a tree, the camera pans to show the fountain in the middle of the square… and then a brush of white fabric as Aska bumps into some one. The pavement rushes up to meet the camera lens as the Network object is dropped to the ground. Once it skids to a stop and the image clears you can see Lady Aska regaining her footing and looking up at a much taller gentleman.

Are you all right, Lady Aska?

HEY! You know who we are?! So many people here don’t seem to know about Fahren.

There is an amused chuckle at that.
Not many people here seem to know about Autozam either.

You are from that place? I guess you were brought here against your will too…

I don’t think anyone really comes here voluntarily, at least I have never met anyone who has.

There is a vaguely thoughtful expression on Lady Aska’s face before she grabs her fan and pokes it at Eagle threateningly.
Maybe you know! How do we get back to Cephiro!?

But, this tiny threat only results in a smile.
And why are you in such a hurry to return to that world?

We were on our way to become the Pillar when this City-place brought us here!

There was a bit of surprise… no not quite surprise, a calculating expression settling in mostly around Eagle’s eyes because he never lost that friendly smile. This was the first time he had been able to confirm the period of time Aska had arrived from.
Have you given up on your ambitions to become the Pillar since your arrival here?

We haven’t! We will become Cephiro’s next Pillar!

Still with the smile… though the friendly tone of voice now holds an icy dangerous edge.
That is inconvenient…

[Turning to Aska with a subtle sigh.]

It's a tea house, my Lady. Perhaps they carry some sort of pastries...

[Making it to the door first and disappearing inside without waiting for the adults in the annoying way that children do when they are really excited and not thinking clearly. Luckily, the tea house is a safe enough place so when the others do arrive they will find Aska safe and sound. ]

[With a great respect for Chang Ang’s patience level… he will just nod. You do know her better than he does after all.

And Eagle will hold the door open for you. ]

...Lady Aska, please don't run. [The long-suffering tone, it's here to stay. Eagle has a thousand reasons to respect this patience.] It's not safe. Or proper for someone of your position.

So kind of you, Master Eagle.

[...As thanks for holding the door for him. It comes with a polite nod and the 'Master' treatment, which is the most informal Chang Ang can really manage.]

Should we go to the same table as the time before? It seemed discreet and private enough.

[Well, of course she didn’t hear any of that since she was inside already, but she does look over her should at Elder when he arrives, before pointing at one of the waitresses and saying ]

This nice lady says they DO have peach dumplings!

[ VERY HAPPY about that]

[This agreed upon Eagle makes sure they are taken to that same table and that what ever tea they might have a desire for is ordered. Ergo… Lady Aska is overly peached with her peach tea and matching dumplings. ]

...That's a fortunate fact, Your Highness. [Sighs, which is the Chang Ang alternative to rolling his eyes... respectfully.]

Master Eagle... [Eagle let him enter the establishment first. Therefore Chang Ang will now offer him the first seat and the first word on the discussion, if Eagle wishes to employ it.]

Well, you can have one too… you know.

[One dumpling for Elder… one for this enemy person… and TWO for her.
But, Aska apparently wants to be the one in charge. ]

Now maybe we can talk about the terms of your surrender.

[*sweat drop ]

That isn’t why I agreed to speak with you Lady Aska. I was hoping that I would be able to convince you not to pursue the Pillar system.

My Lady...! What have we learned about the beginnings of diplomacy? Are we paying attention to our studies on the subject at all??

[He'll accept the dumpling despite his growing concern about this meeting ending up in a quarrel.]

My apologies, Commander. Yet, as facts stand in my reality at least, no party has the need to surrender at all.

[Just waving your protests away. ]

Since we will become the Pillar you had better surrender now before we have to take actions that would force you to give up. No one can defeat Fahren!

[Ok, this was going well wasn’t it? But it was refreshing to be able to speak so openly about these issues. ]

I understand that is how you feel now, but maybe if you understood what the Pillar System actually was you might reconsider trying to conquer it.

[...Can he drown himself in peach tea or choke himself to death with the dumpling? ....Thought so.]

Lady Aska... Your faith in our Empire's military prowess is commendable indeed. However... Commander Vision does have a point about what the Pillar's position entails. I can explain if you allow me!

[For a moment also distracted by the coloring sheet. A cute little scene of a boy and girl dancing around a teacup… ]

Did they give you enough crayons for something like this…?

[doesn’t see a green ]

[CRAYONS. Alright. At least she can't bring those drawings to life with the Illusion techniques. Or so Chang Ang hopes.]

...I'd like to request for your full attention, my Lady. If you please. These matters are extremely important.

I believe what Commander Vision...[Yes, we're back to formalities again.] ...refers to are the duties of the Pillar. This will be explained to you in detail in the nearest future to your time. I apologize in advance for not being aware of this sooner to advise you properly.

[Puts her crayon down. Really trying to pay attention… but this is a short window of time. She doesn‘t have the longest attention span.]

[Oh right… business not crayons. ^^” ]

Why do you want to become the Pillar?
I ask because only someone who is prepared to think only about Cephiro is qualified to become the Pillar. The Pillar isn’t allowed to think of anyone or anything other than the peace and safety of that planet.

[Chang Ang knows of that attention span and what little it lasts all too well. So, with a deferring nod to Eagle, he hurries to explain as well.]

That's quite correct. In the future it'll be revealed to us that to become the Pillar of Cephiro a candidate must think only of Cephiro and leave no room in their heart for anything else.

That sort of task is an unhappy one, Lady Aska.

But, we want to become the Pillar so we can become a beautiful Princess like Emeraude was… And we can wish for the trees to grow candy, the sky to be peach, and everyone to be happy!
MAYBE we could even move Fahren and Cephiro closer together so we could have a shorter distance to travel!

It doesn’t work that way. You wouldn’t be able to wish for anything for yourself. You couldn’t even fall in love because that kind of distraction would lead to the destruction of Cephiro.
